Royal Grappling Academy technique of the week. Waki Gatame (Armpit Lock) from the crucifix position.

Welcome to another Royal Grappling Academy technique of the week! In this video, we will be diving into the intricacies of the Waki Gatame, also known as the Armpit Lock, from the crucifix position.

The crucifix position is a highly dominant and controlling position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, often utilized to immobilize and submit opponents. And the Waki Gatame is a sneaky and effective submission that can catch your opponent off guard.

To begin, we will first establish the crucifix position by trapping our opponent’s arm between our legs and securing their opposite arm with our own. This position limits their mobility and sets the stage for the Waki Gatame.

Once we have secured the crucifix position, we will focus on isolating our opponent’s trapped arm. By using precise leverage and pressure, we aim to create discomfort and vulnerability in their shoulder joint.

Next, we will shift our attention to the armpit area. By driving our knee into their armpit, we further restrict their movement and increase pressure on their shoulder. This added pressure can force them to react and potentially expose the opportunity for the Waki Gatame submission.

With their arm still trapped and their shoulder under immense pressure, we will manipulate their wrist and hand, creating a hyperextended position. This manipulation puts immense strain on their shoulder joint, making it incredibly difficult for them to escape or resist the submission.

Throughout this video, our experienced instructor will break down the mechanics of the Waki Gatame step by step, ensuring that you understand both the technical aspects and the potential dangers of this submission.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, this video will provide valuable insights into the Waki Gatame from the crucifix position. By incorporating this technique into your arsenal, you will enhance your ability to control, dominate, and submit your opponents.
