Welcome to Evolve University’s YouTube channel, where we bring you the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) techniques and strategies to help you improve your skills on the mats. In this video, we will be focusing on three slick shoulder locks that will take your BJJ game to the next level.

Shoulder locks are a powerful submission technique in BJJ that can catch your opponent off guard and force them to tap out. These locks target the shoulder joint and put immense pressure on it, making it nearly impossible for your opponent to escape. With the right technique and timing, you can effectively immobilize and submit even the toughest opponents.

First up, we have the Kimura lock. This shoulder lock is named after the famous Japanese judoka Masahiko Kimura, who used it to defeat the legendary Helio Gracie. The Kimura lock involves trapping your opponent’s arm by gripping their wrist with one hand and holding onto their tricep with your other hand. By applying leverage and rotating their shoulder, you can put immense pressure on their joint, forcing them to tap out or risk injury.

Next, we have the Americana lock, also known as the keylock or figure-four armlock. This technique involves isolating your opponent’s arm by pinning it against the ground with your body weight while securing their wrist with one hand and their elbow with your other hand. By applying pressure downwards, you can hyperextend their shoulder joint, causing intense pain and forcing them to submit.

Lastly, we will be covering the Omoplata lock, a highly effective shoulder lock that can be executed from various positions such as the guard or the mount. The Omoplata involves using your legs to trap your opponent’s arm and then using your hips to apply pressure to their shoulder joint. This lock not only immobilizes your opponent but also puts them in a vulnerable position, allowing you to transition into other submissions or gain a dominant position.

Throughout this video, our experienced BJJ instructor will guide you step by step, breaking down each technique and providing valuable insights and tips to help you execute these shoulder locks with precision and efficiency. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, these shoulder locks are a valuable addition to your BJJ arsenal.
