Welcome to our latest BJJ tutorial video! In this installment, we will delve into the intricacies of the Mount to Omoplata transition. If you are looking to expand your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu repertoire, this technique is a must-learn!

The Mount position is a dominant position in BJJ where you are on top of your opponent, straddling their torso with your knees pinning their arms to the ground. From here, you have great control and can launch devastating attacks. One of those attacks is the Omoplata.

The Omoplata is a highly effective submission that targets the shoulder joint of your opponent. By applying leverage and pressure, you can force them to either tap out or risk serious injury. This technique is particularly effective against bigger and stronger opponents, as it utilizes their own weight against them.

So, how do we transition from Mount to Omoplata? Let’s break it down step by step.

First, establish a strong Mount position with your knees tightly pinning your opponent’s arms to the ground. This will limit their mobility and make it difficult for them to defend against your attacks.

Next, start setting up for the Omoplata by shifting your weight slightly to one side. With the hand on the same side as your shift, reach across your opponent’s body and grip their opposite collar. This grip will provide you with control and help set up the next steps.

Now, it’s time to secure your legs in position. Slide your leg on the side of your collar grip up and across your opponent’s back, positioning your foot near their shoulder blade. Simultaneously, slide your other leg under their body and across their upper back, hooking your foot behind their opposite armpit. This will create a triangle-like lock with your legs, trapping your opponent’s arm.

With your legs locked in place, use your collar grip to break their posture by pulling down and towards you. This will put immense pressure on their shoulder joint and set up the submission. From here, you can either continue to apply pressure until they tap out or use the Omoplata as a transitional move to gain a more advantageous position.

Remember, mastering this technique takes practice, patience, and attention to detail. It is crucial to maintain control and position throughout the transition to execute the Omoplata effectively. With time and dedication, you will be able to seamlessly flow from the Mount to the Omoplata and add another powerful tool to your BJJ arsenal.

So, whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, this tutorial will provide you with valuable insights and techniques to enhance your BJJ game. Watch the video, take notes, and hit the mats to refine your Mount to Omoplata transition. Keep training, keep learning, and keep evolving on your BJJ journey!
